The Novitiate- Antipolo City

Fr. Richard BRUNELLE was born in the state of Maine, northeast United States and completed his primary education in bilingual (English-French) parochial schools, did secondary education at Assumption Prep School in Worcester, Massachusetts, and got degrees in philosophy and theology at Saint Thomas University in Rome. He was ordained in 1963 and did pastoral work at the Assumptionist’s Sacred Heart Shrine in Sherbrooke, Quebec and then taught mathematics and computer science for 18 years at Assumption College, the Assumptionist university in Worcester, Massachussetts. In 1988, he came to Nairobi, Kenya as part of a team to found a new mission in East Africa. There he was in charge of formation and also taught in various seminaries and the Catholic University of Eastern Africa. Fr. Richard arrived in Manila on July 18 to take up his new responsibility as Novice Master for the Philippine Assumptionists.

Fr. Roddy Pierre RATSIMIOLAKA was born in 1967, in the North-East of Madagascar, the “great red island” East of Africa. He is the fourth child in a family of six siblings (two brothers, three sisters). He earned a BA in 1986 when completing his studies at the diocesan Minor Seminary of Ambatondrazaka before moving on to his national service at Saint-Joseph College, a school run by the Christian Brothers. He is a teacher of natural sciences, physics, chemistry and mathematics. He joined the Assumptionist novitiate in 1993 in Tulear and pronounced his first vows in 1994. While a student at the scholasticate in Manirisoa (Fianarantsoa), he taught catechesis to the French speaking children and served as chaplain to the local prison.
After his ordination to the priesthood, he is appointed parish priest in Ejeda, 270 km East of Tulear. At the same time, he taught Malagasi, French and English at the newly opened Assumptionist College Michel Canone. What he loves best are his studies, music and sports (soccer and martial arts), plus gardening and cooking, a real asset for our community! He is planning to stay in the Philippines as a missionary.

Bro. John Ray Nagas was born in Brunei at the year 1985 of Filipino parents. His father is a Mechanical Engineer and his mother worked as a mid-wife in abroad. He is the youngest and the fourth child of a devout Catholic family. In his formative years, John has adapted various cultures and tends to be flexible in socializing. John became active in Church organizations and also in other outreach programs. He finished his college degree of Liberal Arts major in Philosophy at the Our Lady of the Angels Seminary. For some time, John also took some masteral units in Theology at St. Vincent School of Theology, Q.C. (SVST). And he taught English at the Assumption Language Center. As a person of creativity, John has skills in arts and is an advocate of preserving the natural environment. His motto upon entering the Assumption is: “To journey life in LOVE and SERVICE to my Beloved who is everything!” |

Bro. Rex Navarro from Banga, South Cotabato has finished his Bachelor of Science in Commerce major in Management at De Paul College, Jaro, Iloilo City. Moreover, He also finished Philosophy at Adamson University , Ermita, Manila. Before entering the Assumptionist, Rex has taught Christian Living at Colegio de San Jose in Iloilo and has also worked as a project assistant in Anchor Savings Bank in Makati. He even took some masteral units in Theology at St. Vincent School of Theology under the Vincentians.
